Lovely handmade birds, flying free! Created in the style of traditional ceramic folkart - the difference is that these were born in the imagination of Lorraine Oerth - who has loved birds all her life.
Inspired by Pennsylvania Dutch Birds, Oerth's birds are glazed earthenware, and are made here in our Alexandria Virginia studio. Like the PA Dutch birds, they face right or left, so you can pair them up if you want to.
They are made in three color groups: pastel, jeweltone, and spice. Because each bird is unique, glaze pattern will vary slightly from pictures.
NEW! They are now improved. We've added a "crown" to the top of the bird's heads, so now they look sweeter than ever. We've also changed to a heavy aged metal hanger with beads, and this contributes mightily to the handcrafted folkart look.
